About the Layout

The Layout officially began in 2008 when I moved into my present home.
I set aside a room that I designated to be the Train Room so I started to design a plan. I tried designing my own plan but I did not have the Skills required to design realistic trackage. I contacted Stan Sweatt at NKP Layout Design and I contracted him to design the layout based around the PRR Horseshoe Curve. He set off to work in about May of 2008 and the final plan was drawn up by about February of 2009. The plan was a whole lot more than anything I ever envisioned.

If you would like a larger please contact me.
The bench work was up by June of 2008 but then we I basically stopped working on it for a year. I lost interest because I could not run trains anymore. By may 2010 I was really starting to build. I started one night after going to an operating session with a friend, and from there I only wanted to play with trains.

Two weeks later, I had just gotten back from home depot with some foam and I started to put it down on the West side of the layout. I went to my hobby shop and got some Woodland Scenics risers and put those down. The first piece of track was laid on January 1st 2011 and stayed as the only piece until May.

Over the last summer, I have built half of the layout and am running trains. That is all I want to do.
